New homes at Albert and Swedish Wharf

New homes at Albert and Swedish Wharf

Henley Investments are bringing forward plans for new homes and public spaces by Wandsworth Bridge.

Originally approved at Hammersmith & Fulham’s Planning Committee in 2024, the project will see the redevelopment of the vacant former industrial wharf on the site to deliver much-needed new housing.
Below you can find out more about amendments that we are proposing to the project. This involves providing more new homes, including additional affordable and social homes, as well as improvements to improve public access and widen the riverwalk by the Thames.
The site

Albert and Swedish Wharf sits just to the East of Wandsworth Bridge on the riverside, on the corner of Wandsworth Bridge Road and Townmead Road.

In 2024 the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham approved our planning application to redevelop the site.

This included:

276 new homes, 35% of which will be affordable

35% affordable, including 55 intermediate rent homes and 26 homes for social rent (council homes)

Public space within the site and secure a continuous public route along the Thames Path.

Safeguarding the protected Swedish Wharf and re-provide a working Wharf at ground level within the proposals, to continue the site’s industrial heritage.

We are now seeking amendments to the original application via a Section 73 application.

Since approval, we have been looking at the construction of the scheme and are now proposing a number of changes to ensure the development is deliverable. The revised scheme is set out below.

An uplift of 34 homes, 30 of which will be affordable. This means the project will deliver 310 new homes in total, 35% of which will continue to be affordable.

Changes to the unit mix to respond to local needs. This involves an increase in the number of 1 and 2 bed homes to help those seeking to get on the property ladder.

Improvements to the public spaces in the proposals, especially along Wandsworth Bridge Road to make it more pedestrian friendly, vibrant and safe, and to widen the entrance to the River Path.

A near three-times increase in shared amenity space within the buildings for the new residents to enjoy.
